Safeguard Europe - a UK-based company specialising in providing damp-proofing and waterproofing solutions - were keen to reach out to an expanding global marketplace for their Stormdry masonry protection system.
Safeguard wanted a clear and professional-looking video which could be used both as a marketing tool for selling directly to the general public as well as an instructional video for partners in the trade.
The video had to fully explain the benefits and features of the company’s revolutionary Stormdry system - a one-coat application which prevents water penetrating a building's outer skin - as well as illustrate how simple the product is to apply.
Stormdry have had a very positive response to the video, which is one of the most clicked on features on the company website. The video is also frequently used by the sales and marketing team at trade shows and exhibitions.

Advanced 3D graphics and computer animation

The Tigershark team put together a number of 3D models which were then incorporated into the virtual set which had been created using advanced computer graphic techniques.
Everything from buildings, packaging, virtual workmen and even the tubs of Stormdry had to be introduced into this new 3D environment and then combined with a high-quality script and professional voice over.
It was crucial that the video illustrate how simple the product is to buy and apply to the exterior walls of buildings, as well as the key features of providing protection against rain penetration and preventing heat loss.
The animations also had to explain how the product could be used to create an effective flood barrier.

How Stormdry protects the walls of your home from water penetration
|
When masonry gets wet it gets cold and cold walls mean cold buildings as heat escapes much more readily. Protect your home from penetrating damp and increase the thermal resistance of masonry with Stormdry.
With its unique colourless cream formula a simple one coat application will protect brick, stone and concrete from rain penetration for 20 to 30 years whilst allowing the masonry to breathe and retain its original looks and features.
The UK Government has set a target of an 80 percent reduction in carbon emissions from buildings by 2050. Even now, over a third of Britain's housing stock still has solid brick or stone walls which are difficult to insulate conventionally.
When these walls get wet through rain pentration, they become less effective at keeping heat in. Cavity wall insulation is not possible in this type of construction. Internal insulation can be impractical and take up valuable floor space and external insulation can be costly and unattractive. So what can be done?
Stormdry prevents rain penetration and is scientifically proven to reduce heat loss in masonry construction with an energy saving of up to 29% all in one single coat application. Before Stormdry can be applied, the selected area of masonry must be dry and clean. Any necessary remedial repointing should be carried out to create a crack-free surface.
For best results, a Stormdry repointing additive should be incorporated into the repointing mix. Stormdry is supplied in five litre tubs which typically cover 25 square metres of masonry each. Application can be carried out with a brush, roller, powered roller or airless spray. The white cream is applied and the covered areas are easy to see. The cream then sinks in, penetrates the brickwork and becomes colourless. The darkened tone of the brickwork will lighten over the next 24 to 48 hours.
The unique silane/syloxane formula much deeper into the wall than liquid applied products ensuring all surface cracks are covered, giving maximum protection from penetrating damp. As Stormdry cures, the water-repellant molecules line the pores of the masonry and bond to create a barrier against moisture. As the pores are not blocked, the walls can still breathe.
Scientific studies have shown that wet bricks transfer heat twice as quickly as dry bricks. The application of Stormdry creates warmer walls. Stormdry can also provide an effective flood barrier as part of a flood resillience system.
Before application, any cracks in the walls should be repaired and a suitable mortar mix incorporating Stormdry Repointing Additive No2 should be used to repoint all mortar courses up to the flood design height. With high vapour permeability, Stormdry also allows walls to dry out quicker after flooding occurs than if they had been treated with conventional coatings. With no visible alteration to the brick or stonework finish and one simple application, Stormdry creates an invisible flood barrier with the minimum of disruption.
Stormdry is the result of more than 10 years' research and development by Safeguard Europe and has been proven to outperform competing products. Stormdry's unique formula has been extensively tested on a variety of masonry including a wide range of bricks, stonework and concrete. Protect your home from penetrating damp and increase the thermal resistence of masonry with Stormdry.
